I had the opportunity to meet Richard Paul Evans at a presentation at West Lake Junior High School. He was a great gentleman, as would be expected, and as I met him he told me his son was reading SPEED OF LIGHT. The excitement about SPEED OF LIGHT is spreading and Junior High and High School students are falling in love with the story as much as their parents are. Here are some of the personal notes I have been getting about the book:
Hi Lee, My name is Chris Ostler and I met you and picked up “Speed of Light” when you were doing a book signing in American Fork Costco. All I can say is, Wow! That was fun to read! I am so glad I walked by and saw you sitting there telling another couple about your book. I finally had time to start reading it (wish I would have been able to start reading sooner!) and I could not put the book down! It was exciting and I just kept wanting to find out what was going to happen! Very well written, easy to envision, and all around just an awesome book to read! I am really looking foward to book 2 as well as I would love to see it on the bigscreen! Thanks again Lee! Chris Ostler
I met you at Costco Bountiful. Talked about Speed Of Light, Went home and downloaded it on my Nook. I really enjoyed the book. I don’t just look like Santa Claus and must tell you that My Crew has been keeping my sleigh tuned to the point we have been approaching the speed of light for hundreds of years now. Hurry and get the other books out. remember I am old and need them fast. Thanks for a fast entertaining read. Hugo Taylor (Santa Hugo)
Hey Lee, remember me? I met you at the American Fork Costco a while ago. I’ve just finished your book Speed of Light, and it was amazing! I loved it! Your book was IMPOSSIBLE to put down… I found myself reading it constantly! The story was easy to follow, and most of the time I felt like I was there, at Paralight, or somewhere else in the book. It was truly an amazing experience. Hope to hear from you soon!
i recently acquired speed of light for my birthday. My grandparents met Lee and he asked them to show me the website and have me comment when i finished the book. So here i am. i just barely finished the book after having read it for five hours straight. I really loved this book and it is now up with my favorite books along with harry potter, hunger games, and fablehaven. i especially loved the way Lee characterized all the characters. he did so very expertly and gave me an exact picture in my mind. i also loved the “visions” Pierce had, and how he described them, the transitions were perfect and easy to follow. overall the detailing in the book is what makes it really shine. certain scenes in the book were so well executed they chocked me up, made me furious, and made me overjoyed. i loved the book and cant wait for the next one:)
I met Lee Baker at a book signing in Costco 2 days ago, and well, he had me glued to his book from the time he gave me a little description. I read throughout Costco, made my husband drive home so I could continue, and quickly made it to the end of this well-crafted and addicting novel. I couldn’t put it down! I feel lucky I had the chance to meet the author, get a signed copy of his book, and now am looking forward to his upcoming projects! I will definitely be returning to Costco to pick up a few more copies to pass around. Very well done! Thanks for the good read
I got a signed copy of the book from Lee at the Costco in West Valley City, UT just before going on a vacation. This was a great book, and an easy one to get through in a weekend. I thought it was clever to write it from the first-person perspective. It helped you to understand the main character better than a third-person narrative could have done. As far-fetched as we think of the idea of traveling at the speed of light might be, it was all made very plausible, and the story line of what happened afterward was well thought out. It’s hard to tell this was the inaugural effort by Lee. This book has the polish of one written by a seasoned author. I’m looking forward to his next book.
We met at your Costco signing in Murray, Utah. You asked for my thoughts when I read your book. Well…couldn’t put it down. Neither could my husband. It totally kept our attention, wondering what would happen next, how would he get out of his next situation, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tension. Look forward to a sequel.
This book was awesome!!!! Please write a sequel. I loved the characters and the plot, and everything!!!!!!!!! This book kept me in it until I finished it, so it is very, very good. Lee Baker is a very good author if this is only his first book.
lee: I met you at Costco last Saturday–bought your book and loved it. You must have some experience flying airplanes. I started flying about the same age as the character in your book. I would like to meet you again sometime. You have a great future if you have some more plots in mind as good as ” Speed of light “. Good luck to you.
Lee, My sister picked the book from you at Costco last Saturday in West Valley. She gave me the book to read. I read it yesterday straight through and as Larry King said “You wont want to put it down”. Fun book. As an aspiring book writer it has helped me to recognize that a project like this is possible and I will keep pushing forward. Thanks.
I loved the book. I couldn’t put it down. It had me captivated the whole way through. I loved how there was so much suspense and how it kept you guessing the whole way through. I totally recommend this book.
Wow, that was amazing!!! It’s tied for first in the list of my favorite books. If I read it again, there may no longer be a tie. I loved it! Keep writing!!!
A Must Read for Those Who Like Action and Suspense. I’m not an avid reader, but I like books that grab me and seize me from start to finish, to the point I don’t want to put them down once I begin. Speed of Light is one of those books for me. I got goose bumps as Pierce Black weaved his way through one life threatening situation after another to the point I found my physical self and my emotions pulled into the story. I wanted to fight right along with Pierce Black. Time and again, with each compelling situation Pierce was faced with I thought I could figure out the “predictable outcome”, but was always surprised that wasn’t the case. This is an exciting and thrilling read – the kind of book that would make a great movie.
